Text Analysis of Thanksgiving 2016

What We’re Thankful For (An OdinText Text Analytics PollTM ) I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I was curious what people are most thankful for this year and so I asked 1500 Americans. Here, in order of most frequently mentioned, are the subjects OdinText identified:


I’ve written a lot about Quant vs. Qual research on the blog here recently, and that text analysis is an opportunity to merge the two rather effortlessly to get more accurate insights.

Still, we often end up focusing more on the aggregate quantitative output such as the chart above. Sometimes it’s important to drill down into the categories and read some of the actual comments like the one below to keep things in perspective:

Electric heaters that are keeping my family warm while we don't have a working central air heater. I am also thankful for my children's love. Lastly, I am thankful for state food assistance that keeps my family from starving

Personally, I’m very grateful for time spent with my wife and son, as well as extended family and friends, including those I’ve met in the research field over the last many years. I’m also very grateful to be working in such an interesting field, and for our wonderful clients who continue to challenge us in how to make text analysis more useful.
