Text Analytics News Interview

Text Analytics News posted a Q&A with myself and Seth Grimes on their blog. We were asked how we have seen the field develop and what we think is to come. While our answers to specific questions differed slightly, we we’re both very optimistic about the future. You can read the full interview on their site.

I was just asked a similar question on a call earlier today – what do I think will be the next big think in text analytics? It’s hard to say specifically. I think we all have our own set of blinders on which tend to be specific to our own experiences and use case expertise, mine being market research.

That said I try hard to look beyond the market research industry. I think the best way to do that is to read not just what’s being done in our industries or in academia, but in the tech sector in general (sources like Wired and Mashable). As text analytics continues to increase in popularity, I think we’re going to start to see some really interesting applications that are hard to conceive of now.

If you have any thoughts on new interesting applications I’d love to hear from you.
